Frequently asked questions

We want to make sure you have all the information you need as you research options for your postpartum doula. Check out our frequently asked questions, or reach out to us directly through our client contact form.

  • A postpartum doula is an open and non-judgmental person who supports moms and parents in the weeks immediately after giving birth. We support the whole family, are up to date with evidence-based information and guidance, complement the support family and friends can provide, and help parents feel confident.

  • This is a service that will lead to confident parenting. We cater to first time parents, parents who haven't spent much time around infants, parents with little to no nearby support, parents of multiples, and any parent who just wants a little extra help.

A postpartum doula package is also the perfect baby gift from family or friends!

In addition to our doula services, we offer a 1-hour “Grandparenting 101” class to give new grandparents a refresher on the best ways to support parents and help care for Baby.

  • We offer 4-hour home visits on weekdays between 8 a.m - 6 p.m. as well as virtual check-ins to provide a wide variety of non-medical support, including:

    • Mom comfort - emotional and physical recovery after childbirth, coping skills with a newborn

    • Infant feeding support

    • Infant sleep support

    • Education on infant care - swaddling, bathing, soothing, holding, diapers, and more

    • Connection to trusted local resources to assist with additional physical and emotional support as needed

    • Sibling adjustment - stay in routine and set boundaries

    • Household organization - tidying up, dishes, laundry, and light food preparation

    • A selection of quick and easy recipes to make your lives easier

    • Evidence-based research and information to enhance parents’ knowledge base

    • Help in recognizing your parenting strengths and providing resources, referrals, and people to support you

    • Support to help you become the kind of parents you want to be

  • Beyond the Bump Cincy is proud to be an inclusive company, gladly serving all new parents, whether you are single, married, or partnered. We are LGBTQIA+ friendly and support all forms of families.

We serve families in the Cincinnati area. Clients within 15 miles of downtown Cincinnati do not incur any travel charges. Outside a 15-mile radius, we charge a one-time travel fee of $35.

  • We offer “Grandparenting 101” as an add-on to any of our packages or a stand-alone option for new grandparents who want to be as helpful as possible. This 1-hour class, available in a group or private setting, in person or via Zoom, will give grandparents a refresher on the best ways to support parents and help care for a new baby.

  • We work with families in the “4th trimester” — from the time you get home from the hospital, for up to 12 weeks.

Most families benefit from 3-6 days of help with four-hour visits within the first 6 weeks. Regardless of a family's support system, we strongly recommend having our first visit in the first few days you are home from the hospital.

Beyond the Bump Cincy operates in four-hour home visits, with morning shifts between 8am-12pm or 9am-1pm, and afternoon shifts between 1pm-5pm or 2pm-6pm.

  • During your pregnancy if possible; it may take a bit of research for you to find the perfect doula for you. Many people start looking during early pregnancy so they can schedule sessions with their doula in advance of giving birth.

  • Beyond the Bump Cincy charges an hourly rate of $60 (12 hour minimum), with a reduced hourly rate of $50 if you purchase one of our packages. We accept payment via personal check, Venmo, or PayPal. Click here to check out all of our pricing and packages.

  • Get in touch with us through our client contact form by clicking here, and we’ll reach out to set up an introductory phone call. After that, we’ll do an in-person meeting to get to know each other and make sure it’s a good fit. Finally, we’ll do an at-home intake meeting with your whole household, usually around Week 35 of your pregnancy, so we’re ready to go as soon as you have your baby.
